Years
ago, brilliant scientist Claire Thompson was deeply wounded by her
boss Edwin Jensen while working with the Jensen Project – a
philanthropic scientific organization that works behind the scenes
to develop new technology to solve the problems of disease, hunger,
and poverty. As a result, Claire and her husband Matt left the
project. But when Edwin steals Claire’s invention and threatens to
pervert it into a terrible weapon, the Thompsons are recalled to the
Project – and Claire, Matt, their son Brody, and the street-smart
teen genius Samantha are launched on a wild adventure to stop Edwin
and his criminal associates before it is too late.
There
is practically no content of concern to parents in this movie. The
heroes get into various brief fistfights and struggles with the bad
guys on a few occasions, and staples of an “action” pictures, like
car chases and explosions, are also seen. Brody and Sam shoot each
other with paintballs during a game. Edwin uses his technology to
alter a human being’s heart rate and blood level, but the subject is
unconscious throughout. As teens, Brody and Samantha are mildly
rebellious, disobeying parental instructions in order to help battle
Edwin. There is also discussion about Brody’s habit of skipping out
of school because he doesn’t find it challenging enough.
The
major positive message of the picture is that family members must
learn to communicate their feelings to one another. Because she was
wounded by Edwin’s words, Claire has uprooted the entire Thompson
family, none of whom have learned to share their feelings or talk
problems out; but the events of the movie teach them the value of
communication.
The
Jensen Project
is a delightful action-packed adventure, with a clever plot,
engaging characters, good moral lessons, and a thrilling
roller-coaster ride of drama with a science-fiction flavor. The Parents Television Council is proud to award The
Jensen Project with the PTC Seal of ApprovalTM.
The PTC recommends this DVD for all viewers over age five.
