PTC entertainment reviews provide parents with information concerning current entertainment offerings, including recommended ages suitable for a particular film and specific information about the content of sex, violence and profanity.  Television, DVD and film reviews are all carefully evaluated using the stringent guidelines established many years ago by the PTC (see ETS for more information). You can trust PTC entertainment reviews to guide you through the process of selecting appropriate entertainment for you and your family. Armed with the information contained in PTC reviews parents can be the final arbiter of what they or their family sees.

Building A Difference: The Bell Family DVD

 

Building A Difference is a documentary series from the Trinity Broadcasting Network showcasing the work of Builders Care, a Florida organization which rebuilds the homes of those less fortunate. The episode on this DVD, “The Bell Family,” shows how Builders Care helped the family of John and Michelle Bell and their three daughters. After John and Michelle were severely injured in a motorcycle accident, their church family, members of the Christian Motorcyclist Association and the local builders and volunteers of Builders Care came together to rebuild their home. more

Tulipchan: Let’s Be Friends DVD

 

Tulipchan: Let’s Be Friends is a DVD featuring two animated stories about Tulipchan, a flower-like little girl, and her friends. The first story, “Tulip, Citrus, and Cherri,” is about making friends -- “It’s an easy thing to do by just saying hi and being nice,” learns Tulipchan.  The second story is titled, “Sharing and the Sand Castle.” In it, Tulipchan learns to be polite, saying “May I,” and “please.”  In both stories, Tulip and her parents use both English and Japanese words. In the DVD’s bonus features, a glossary of the Japanese words and their meaning is given, and the DVD’s creator shows how to draw Tulip and her friends. more

Building A Difference is a documentary series from DeepLight Entertainment currently airing on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. The program showcases the work of Builders Care, a Florida organization which rebuilds the homes of those less fortunate. The episode on this DVD, “The Page-Bailie Bunch,” shows how Builders Care helped Melisa Page-Bailie, a woman who fostered over 200 children and adopted nine.  After detailing Melisa’s journey in helping her children as well as the needs of each child’s life, the episode shows Builders Care made dramatic improvements to her home, thus helping Melisa and her children. more


Professor Crunch and the Daffies DVD

 

Professor Crunch and the Daffies is an entertaining and educational DVD which teaches children about science through puppetry, music and humorous skits. Professor Crunch and his assistant Chloe teach talking “lab animal” Urchin and the alien Daffies about the three dimensions, scientific terminology and the solar system through songs and sketches. more

 

 


Mike and Will’s Kids Cooking for Kids DVD

 

Mike and Will’s Kids Cooking for Kids is a DVD series in which boys Mike and Will teach young viewers how to cook and shop for food.  On the first DVD, the twin boys teach viewers how to make fish in a pouch. In a Thanksgiving Special, viewers learn how to make pumpkin bread and cranberry/tangerine relish.  From viewing these DVDs, young viewers learn safety tips for the kitchen, how to tell a good fish/tomato in the market, and how to clean a salad.  They also learn about the San Francisco food bank, how to get involved and how to help the community. more

This movie tells the story of Dan, the product of a broken home. Despite experiencing an alcoholic father, an abusive stepfather and teen experimentation with drugs, Dan grows into a responsible adult. White Bear

 

This DVD provides an exploration of one of nature’s most magnificent animals, the polar bear. In an easy-going, casual documentary style, host Jimmy Wilson travels to Manitoba, Canada, “The Polar Bear Capital of the World.” White Bear features lots of footage of polar bears in their native environment, much of it close-up, and there is a brief look at how manmade pollutants are adversely affecting the bears and native Indian populations in the arctic region. more


Mary Rice Hopkins & Puppets with a Heart

 

This DVD has two half-hour episodes, in which Christian singer/performer Mary Rice Hopkins and her loveable puppets Gringo and Ohno teach children positive values through entertainment and song. Episode one, “What’s in Your Hand?” explores the talents each person can use to glorify God. The audience is encouraged to use God and the Bible as their compass and to keep practicing their talents. Children are also told that every person can use their gifts to be small yet important. Episode two, “Choices and Values” teaches that what a person has in their heart is translated into words and actions. Children are asked to look inside their hearts and see that we are hurt when others make fun of us, and that can turn into us being sharp with others. If we are having family problems that can make us sad and possibly turn into a need to act out in order to get attention. The segment ends with a song saying that all things work together for good. more


Life at the Pond: The Rise and Fall of Tony the Frog

 

In this episode of the animated Christian children’s series, Tony the Frog starts a paper route that consumes his life. His delivery tactics are quite aggressive and he carelessly destroys others’ property and deserts his friends in order to build his empire. His friends are concerned and pray for him. There is a stock market crash and Tony’s company is left in shambles. His friends send him a picture of all of them, and he returns to them and apologizes. more


Cory in the House DVD

 

Cory in the House is about Cory, whose father who works as a chef at the White House.  This DVD contains four different comedy episodes featuring Cory and his friends Newt and Meena as they try to impress a girl -- and destroy the Presidential Seal; write a new song for their band; and experience romance and a first kiss.

Andy’s Airplanes: Andy Meets the Blue Angels

 

Andy Meets the Blue Angels is part of the Andy’s Airplanes series. In this episode, Andy visits a Navy aircraft carrier. He flies an F-18 jet, uses the flight simulator, visits the flight deck, and learns about aircraft carriers and fighter planes. At the end he gets to meet the Navy Blue Angels, a special flight corps. Themes include being respectful, teamwork, serving one’s country, and using one’s imagination. more


Coral Reef Adventure

Coral Reef Adventure, produced by MacGillivray Freeman Films, is a documentary that follows the real-life expedition of ocean explorers Howard and Michele Hall. There is only one scene that implies the danger of death from the bends. This occurs when diver Howard Hall is filmed lying inside a depressurization tank, with his wife Michele, sitting by his side. The dangers of diving and not receiving enough oxygen are discussed briefly and responsibly. Coral Reef Adventure is a family friendly film that is completely void of sex, violence, and profanity and is recommended for anyone aged 5 and up. more

Originally created for exhibition in IMAX theaters, this DVD release of Greece - Secrets of the Past brings the big-screen beauty and drama of the film to the small screen. Narrator Nia Vardalos (star and writer of My Big Fat Greek Wedding) shows us how Greece shaped both the ancient and modern worlds. more
