When her mother
dies, control of the family horse-breeding farm falls to Peggy Chenery Tweedy.
Though her brother and husband urge her to sell the property, Peggy discovers
that one foal has the bloodline that could make it a champion racer. Through
family arguments, buy-out offers, financial difficulties, and the determined
opposition of other breeders, Peggy and her trainer Lucien persevere, and raise
and train the foal destined to become one of the greatest racehorses of all
time: Secretariat.
Secretariat
contains no content to concern parents. In one amusing scene, a reporter
disparages Secretariat, and the horse chooses that moment to urinate on his
shoe. Secretariat's mother gives birth to the foal, but the birthing process is
not explicitly seen; rather, the mother horse is seen lying down, the camera
cuts away, and the newborn horse is then shown.
Secretariat is an
inspiring movie perfect for families, and sure to delight lovers of horses and
racing fans. Because of its family-friendly values, the Parents Television
Council is proud to award Secretariat with the PTC Seal of ApprovalTM.
The PTC recommends this movie for viewers over age five.
