The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill
is the endearing documentary of retired musician Mark Bittner's unselfish
love and care for the wild parrots of San Francisco. Set on Telegraph Hill, the
eccentric Bittner resides in a small apartment which he shares with a few of the
wild parrots. He provides an inside look into the lives of these fascinating
birds, many of whom Bittner has given names and can recount their personal
stories. One such bird is an outcast, Connor, whom Bittner believes is
rejected by the other birds because he is a blue crowned parrot, while the
others are red crowned. This film also explores the daily life of the parrots in
their adopted habitat, and what they must to do survive.
Directed by Emmy® and Sundance
Award-winning filmmaker Judy Irving, The Wild Parrots of Telegraph
Hill is a refreshing documentary about
an interesting flock of parrots which
is appropriate for all ages, especially animal lovers. Unlike so many films of
today, it is completely void of objectionable content, and instead is full of
positive messages including friendship and unselfishness. For this, the Parents
Television Council® is pleased to present
it with the coveted Seal of Approval™.
