Happy Feet
on ABC
All too often, prime time is
crowded with shows inappropriate for children; so it is a special delight when a
program for kids is shown. On Friday, May 8th, ABC provided perfect
Family Hour programming with the movie Happy Feet, the Best TV Show
of the Week. Airing on at 8:00 p.m. ET, the movie tells the story of
Mumble, a young penguin with a difference. All the other penguins love to sing;
Mumble finds that while he cannot sing, he loves to dance. Ostracized by his
emperor penguin society, Mumble sets off on his own – and
stumbles upon a group of Adelie penguin who accept
Mumble for who he is.
Filled with
spectacular choreography (Mumble’s dancing was motion-captured from real-life
dancer Savion Glover) and delightful comedy, Happy Feet also features
many good messages for children, stressing the importance of friendship
and love, courage, accepting others and being true to
yourself. Awarded the
PTC Seal of ApprovalTM
when it was released in theaters, Happy Feet is a heartwarming story
ideal for children. For remembering that the Family Hour should feature programs
for families, ABC and Happy Feet deservet the title of Best TV Show of the
Week.
