American Dad
on Fox
In what might be a wildly
unsurprising revelation, the May 18th episode of American Dad!
(9:30p.m. ET) has earned the show its Worst TV Show of the Week
slot for the second consecutive week.
In the third season finale,
“Spring Break-up,” the Smith residence is transformed into a playground for the
most hedonistic of MTV-gestated college traditions: Spring Break. With wife
Francine away to help her ailing father, alien houseguest Roger welcomes
busloads of college students to his debauched fiesta, distributing gift bags
with “butt plugs” included.
Husband Stan Smith finds a
cute college student Jessica, who becomes his “spring break buddy.” Despite
flirting co-eds who offer “drunken, sloppy sex,” young teenage son Steve focuses
his energies on losing his virginity to thinly-veiled MTV VJ Carmen “Selectra.”
Roger constructs elaborate
alcoholic delivery systems, including a “lazy river of beer,” a “tunnel of
booze” and a scepter filled with Chivas. The party features graphic scenes of
Girls Gone Wild-inspired breast-flashing, strippers, and vomiting students.
When Francine returns,
shocked to find what’s been happening, Stan leaves her, saying she no longer
laughs at his lame jokes. Stan follows “spring break buddy” Jessica to Rutgers
University, where without alcohol-induced frivolity, she no longer wants him
around.
However, Stan has no need to
question his actions, because Francine decides to apologize for not laughing at
his lame jokes.
Meanwhile, young Steve
manages to convince Carmen Selectra to take his virginity, but requests that she
remove her breast implants. Though Carmen complies with his demand, the spring
break stage collapses, killing her. Roger dances around her corpse, declaring
it the best spring break ever.
For its graphic sexual
content and all-around debauchery, American Dad! deserves the title Worst TV Show of the Week.
