It's
Always Sunny in Philadelphia on
FX
Episode Summary
Returning with two
back-to-back half-hour episodes of “teabagging,” “gorilla masking” and
waterboard torture, the September 18th airing of the It’s
Always Sunny in Philadelphia on FX (10:00 p.m. ET), has
earned the title of Worst Cable TV Show of The Week.
Set in a Philadelphia dive owned by three proudly amoral
twenty-somethings -- Dennis, Mac and Charlie -- It’s Always Sunny in
Philadelphia mines “comedic” material almost exclusively from taboo
subject matter such as cannabilism, torture, abortion and the like. It’s
all a day’s work for the boys, assisted by lone female Sweet Dee and
their quasi-father-figure Frank (Danny DeVito), who is even more twisted
and devoid of conscience than the others.
Each week Dennis, Mac and Charlie dream up idiotic schemes in
pursuit of money, sex and/or amusement. Since actors who play the lead
roles are also the show’s producers, writers and occasional directors,
these three hope that stripping Philadelphia’s world of any
societal restraint will equal comedy gold. However, the end result is
the visual equivalent of watching three future Bellevue inmates yelling
for thirty minutes.
In the episode “Dennis and Mac: Manhunters,” Dennis and Mac
decide to hunt the “most dangerous game,” which is in this instance
means local homeless man Cricket. When they catch their prey, the
objective is to “teabag” their victim, which means dipping their
testicles in his mouth. However, Mac prefers” gorilla masking,” pouring
glue and shaved pubic hair over the victim’s face. The subtleties of
both tactics are argued over for several minutes.
Meanwhile, Charlie and Dee search for the origins of Frank’s
“mystery meat,” which he has told them is human flesh. In their quest to
satisfy an intense craving for same, Charlie and Dee bribe their way
into the morgue -- where a perverse clerk thinks they are paying to have
sex with a corpse.
“I gotta say though, I
ain't never seen a guy and girl bang one of these stiffs at the same
time,” says the morgue attendant with apparent glee. “I don't judge you
guys, it's cool. I like yogurt up my ass and a popsicle stick in my
mouth.”
For graphic violence, sexual situations and language, It’s
Always Sunny in Philadelphia deserves to be called the Worst
Cable TV Show of The Week.
